So today we are really focusing in on a dining table with chairs. Since I just came up with the idea of blogging our projects I didn't have the foresight to take pictures from the actual beggining which would have included selecting the right wood & preparing it. However I will be doing that for our next project.
Ok so here's a few pictures just to get the ball rolling in the first picture I'm using a biscuit joiner to creates slits in the wood to hold the biscuits. Biscuits are basically these small wood chips that are incredibly strong. These chips are initially what hold the table together but later screws become the primary source of strength & the biscuits act as a secondary source of strength. It's a really great way to ensure our work is high quality.
In the second photo you'll see the table top after initial assembly & sanding. We still need to stain or paint it followed by a good waxing or clear coat to protect the piece.
I'll keep updating as the project continues!
